Message from the VP for Research
UToledo Research & Sponsored Programs
Support of scholarship, creative activity, and research, to achieve success across all disciplines.
President Postel, Interim Provost Molitor and?I plan to recognize faculty members who have made outstanding?contributions in scholarly?or creative?activity over the past three years (2021-2023) for their work at UToledo through the Outstanding Scholarly and Creative Activity Award.? This is distinct from the Outstanding?Research Award program that recognizes faculty members for achievements only one time over the entire duration of their career at UToledo.
We plan to recognize a very small number of faculty members (up to 20 people) who have had highly acclaimed publications for their scholarly?work (not undergraduate textbooks) and those who have had highly acclaimed contributions in creative activities, such as performances or works of art. The expectation is that the scholarly?work or creative?activity contributes to the mission of The University of Toledo. There must be clear evidence that the work received national and/or international recognition from the community of scholars or other recognized sources (reviews in national magazines or newspapers) appropriate to the discipline.
UToledo Libraries will work to identify faculty publications that are highly acclaimed or published in premier journals or presses. These could include articles in high impact journals such as?Nature,?Science,?PNAS?or others appropriate to the specific discipline or area of study; presses including top academic presses or those that are leaders in specific areas of study; or other outlets with national or international distinction. To ensure that we do not miss potential faculty awardees, the Office of Research and?Sponsored Programs is inviting faculty members to nominate those who should be considered (self-nomination or nomination of a faculty colleague).? Nominations are due by February 26, 2024 and?must include the following information:?
Please send nominations [email protected]?no later than Friday, February 26, 2024.
?Sincerely,
Constance Schall
Interim Vice President for Research
