Message from the Superintendent September 13, 2024

Dear Fayette County Public Schools Families, Students, and Staff,? ?

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of visiting our schools with some of our outstanding school board members. I want to extend my gratitude to Mr. Speakman, Mr. Vlasaty, and Mr. Rounds for accompanying me as we toured the district, engaged with staff and students, and observed classroom activities. Visiting schools allows us to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the schools. Our school board has an ongoing commitment to fostering strong connections between school leadership, educators, and students to ensure the best possible educational outcomes.

On Wednesday, September 11th, Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School's NJROTC Wildcat Company held two solemn ceremonies in honor of 9/11 Patriots Day. MSgt Barron Hall led this wonderful group of dedicated students as they shared heartfelt and insightful words in a deeply emotional ceremony. For both the community and the students, this ceremony is a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice displayed on that tragic day. It serves as an opportunity for the students to reflect on the values of service, unity, and resilience, while also allowing the community to come together in remembrance and gratitude for those who protect our freedoms.

Please be reminded that Monday, September 16, 2024, will be a Staff Development Day, meaning there will be no school for students. On this day, our teachers and staff will engage in professional development to continue enhancing the educational experience for all students. Classes will resume as usual on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. We encourage you to make necessary arrangements for your child’s care during this time. Thank you for your understanding and support, and if you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

Physical activity is essential for children's healthy growth, strengthening muscles, bones, and the heart, while boosting energy levels, stamina, and sleep quality. It enhances cognitive function, improving focus, memory, and problem-solving, while also promoting mental well-being by managing stress and fostering resilience. Additionally, regular exercise aids in social development, teaches valuable skills like teamwork, and helps prevent future health issues, ultimately building confidence and fostering lifelong success.

Every day a student is present is an opportunity to inspire and educate. Make each day count, because attendance is the foundation of success. Each day in the classroom is not just a time to cover material but a chance to spark curiosity, build skills, and shape the future. Regular attendance is key to unlocking these opportunities for growth and learning.

Dr. Versie R. Hamlett
