Message from the Superintendent May 27, 2022

Dear Fayette County Public Schools Families, Students and Staff,


Can you believe that the last day of this school year was yesterday? I want to thank everyone who helped our school system successfully complete the 2021-2022 academic school year. Our teachers and staff members have gone above and beyond in our efforts to educate our students as safely as possible. Your hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed.?

As we end the 2021-2022 school year, our district would like to get feedback and input from guardians/parents and students. Please complete this short survey by June 6, 2022:?https://forms.gle/6JAg9N2dJmurxjgd8??

We will use this information to improve practices and programs in our district. Thank you?in advance for completing this short survey.

Our junior high Academic Pentathlon team recently competed in the National Competition and received numerous honors. Our state champion 7th grade team ranked 5th nationally and two students won individual national medals. Colin Anderson (East) won a national bronze medal in Fine Arts and Bailey Steele (West) won a national bronze medal in literature. Students who competed at Nationals from the 7th grade state champion team are Chloe Wright, Erikis Tate, Colin Anderson, Skylar Holt, Bailey Steele, Sadie Doyle, Isabel Nunez, and Aja Garrett. The top scores among these team members in their division were Erikis Tate (West), Colin Anderson (East), and Isabel Nunez (East).

All other Academic Pentathlon students competed in either the national online or national individual competition. Three students won national medals in these events.

  • Karley Hicks (West): Bronze Medal in Literature
  • James Anderson (East): Gold Medal in Fine Arts
  • Alex Marino (East): Gold medals in Literature, Science, Fine Arts, Social Studies, and Overall; Silver medal in Math

Students who competed at Nationals include Myla Madden, Austin Long, Mierickis Lester, Alexander Marino, Justin Davis, Madison Green, Jack Anderson, Karleigh Marino, Mackenzie German, Karley Hicks, Kylie Bowden, Kassandrah Rivera, Robert Jones, Bailey Koonce, Ainsley Robertson, James Anderson, and Kimberly Cruz. I am so proud of all of these students. I am also so appreciative of Coach Clint Brown and Coach Sheila Cassady for their hard work and dedication in preparing these students for this rigorous national competition.

Next year’s national competition will be held at Disneyland in Garden Grove, California.
