Message from the Superintendent: December 6, 2024

Dear Fayette County Public Schools Families, Students, and Staff,?

On behalf of Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School and the entire district, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the NJROTC cadets who participated in the recent ceremony honoring Mr. Michael Johnson, a distinguished Navy veteran and former Seabee. Their precision and respect during the flag-folding presentation, led by Cadet Axel Ortiz, Cadet Ariana Gwynn, Cadet Kiera Jordan, and Cadet Kamarion Bond, were a testament to the values we hold dear in our schools—leadership, citizenship, and respect.

After the ceremony, the folded flag was presented to Mr. Johnson, symbolizing our deep gratitude for his dedication and service to our nation. This solemn and meaningful event reflects the NJROTC program’s unwavering commitment to honoring veterans and fostering an understanding of service and sacrifice among our students.

I also thank Fayette-Ware Principal Stephanie Blayde for supporting this ceremony and MSgt Barron Hall for his leadership with the NJRTOC program. Events like these honor those who have served and inspire our cadets and students to carry forward the values of commitment and dedication in their lives. We are building a legacy of respect and service that will impact future generations.

Fayette County Public Schools is excited to host the District Wide Transition and Resource Fair on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School. This event is a valuable opportunity for families, educators, and community members to explore resources and connect with statewide agencies ready to assist and answer questions.

We encourage everyone to attend and learn more about the services available to support our students' success. There will be light snacks and giveaways for attendees, making it a great experience for everyone.

For additional information and to register, please scan the QR code on the event flyer, contact our Special Education department at 901-465-5260, email [email protected] or call 833-596-1553. We look forward to seeing you there!

Beginning January 8, 2025, Fayette County Public Schools will enforce a new school board policy banning student use of cell phones and electronic devices during school hours. Students must turn in their devices at the start of the day and will receive them back at dismissal. This policy is designed to improve student focus, minimize distractions, and promote academic success.

Snacks are an important part of a healthy diet, providing essential vitamins and minerals from all food groups. Choose small, nutritious snacks like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy to support growing bodies. Timing is key—offer snacks 1? to 2 hours before meals to avoid spoiling appetites. Plan snacks intentionally as part of the day, not just for entertainment.

Every day students attend school, they are building a brighter future. Show up, engage, and achieve success—because school attendance makes a difference!

Dr. Versie R. Hamlett
