Fayette County Public Schools
Dear Fayette County Public Schools Families, Students, and Staff,? ? ? ?
As we conclude the second week of the school year, I wanted to share some exciting updates and a few important reminders.
Our students are already making great strides, quickly adapting to their routines and actively participating in their lessons. Teachers are working diligently to deliver instruction aligned with Tennessee State Standards, and it is wonderful to see our students so engaged and eager to learn.
Key Reminders:
Attendance: Consistent attendance is vital for your child’s success. Please ensure they are present and on time each day.
Learning Conversations: Encourage your child to discuss their daily learning goals with you. This can help reinforce what they are learning in school.
Stay Connected: If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office. We are here to support your child’s educational journey.
YCare: The YMCA will provide before and after-school care for our students this year. This collaboration ensures a safe and supportive environment beyond regular school hours, allowing you to manage your day with peace of mind. YCare before-school care will be available at Oakland, with the possibility of expansion to other locations based on parent interest. YCare after-school care will be offered at Buckley-Carpenter, LaGrange-Moscow, Oakland, Southwest, and West Junior High, though some sites may be combined depending on enrollment. If you have not already done so, please secure your spot in the YCare program by registering here . For Financial Assistance, apply here . East Junior High will continue to offer LEAP after-school care, with registration packets available from the office.
Parent Information and Listening Sessions: Next week, Fayette County Public Schools will begin our Parent Information and Listening Sessions. We are proud of the significant progress made under the 1965 Desegregation Consent Order and that we have achieved partial unitary status. We are hosting parent sessions at each school to keep our stakeholders informed about our progress. Please join us on Monday, August 19th at 5:30 PM at East Junior High, Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High, or Oakland Elementary. Additional sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th at 5:30 PM at Buckley-Carpenter Elementary, LaGrange-Moscow Elementary, Southwest Elementary, and West Junior High. Your input is vital, and we look forward to your participation.

Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration. Together, we are setting the stage for a fantastic school year!
School lunches provide numerous benefits, contributing to students' overall well-being and academic success. They offer a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, crucial for growth and cognitive function. Proper nutrition from school lunches enhances concentration, memory, and academic performance while fostering healthy eating habits. For many students, school lunches are a reliable source of nutritious food, preventing hunger during the school day. Additionally, lunchtime offers a valuable opportunity for social interaction, helping students build friendships and social skills. School lunches also provide convenience for families, saving time and ensuring access to balanced meals. Furthermore, by promoting balanced meals and educating students on portion sizes and nutrition, school lunch programs can help prevent childhood obesity, making them an essential part of the school environment.
Absences can add up quickly. Missing just two days of school each month means a child misses 10% of the school year. Being in school every day is crucial for learning and success. #SchoolEveryDay #AttendanceMatters
