Dear Fayette County Public Schools Families, Students, and Staff,???????????

The students?of Fayette County Public Schools?have worked diligently over the past couple of weeks to do their very best on this year’s TCAP tests.?Before testing began, many schools held fun events to motivate students to do their best on the test.?Dr. Fabre Ford and her Southwest Elementary Eagles hosted a “TCAP?Tailgate” complete with all sorts of fun including bounce houses!

Most of the district’s schools completed the last of their scheduled tests this week. Next week will finalize this year’s TCAP testing. This will include make-up testing for those students that have missed one or more of their exams. If your child was absent over the past two weeks and missed a TCAP test, please ensure that he or she?is?at school next week to complete the test. You can also contact your child’s teacher to discuss testing make-up times. I would like to thank all of the district’s students, staff, and families for all of the hard work that went into a smooth and successful testing cycle. I would especially like to thank Ms. Stephanie Neal,?who oversees testing for the district, for all of her hard work.

Recently, we had an opportunity to celebrate FCPS’s bus drivers. Our bus drivers are an integral part of our school system. They not only have the responsibility of safely transporting our students to and from school each day, they also have the privilege of being the first person from the district to greet our students each morning. In a county as large as Fayette County, our bus drivers face a tremendous task every day. I am truly grateful for all that they do. I would like to thank each and every one of our bus drivers. I would also like to thank district Transportation Director Mr. Bobby Champion and his team for all that they do. If you or someone that you know?is interested in joining the FCPS family, we are currently looking to add bus drivers to our team.?

?Last Saturday,?West Junior High participated in?a Battle of the Bands at Haywood Middle School in Brownsville.?The Lions competed against Haywood Middle and Havenview Middle out of Memphis. The Lions represented FCPS well. I would like to congratulate these talented students and their Band Director, Mr. William Harrison.

Again, I would like to thank all families for their support during this year's state testing. It is essential that we get as many tests as possible completed. If your child missed any of their tests please ensure that the tests are made-up next week prior to the close of the testing window.

Attendance Matters!

Dr. Versie R. Hamlett
