Message from the Founder
When people ask me why I started Projetech, I often joke and say, ‘I needed a job.’ And while humorous, it’s also entirely true. I had no intention of starting a company or having 50+ employees. I wasn’t interested in any of the job opportunities I had at the time, and I needed something to do.
I started my career in the mechanical business and the mechanical contracting sphere in Cincinnati is a relatively small industry. Everyone knows everyone else, and when I found myself in the job market, a lot of businesses were interested in hiring me. They weren’t interested in me or my plans and aspirations. They were largely interested in the business I might bring with me. That didn’t appeal to me.
Technological evolution
At the time, I had become very interested in the impact technology would have on the mechanical business. Maintenance and reliability cannot be managed with index cards, beepers, and whiteboards. I realized there must be a technological tool that would streamline and improve the inefficient systems currently in place.
From there, Projetech - short for Technical Projects - was formed. In the early days, we explored various technologies like HVAC control systems, building automation tools, cabling, fiber optics and space planning.
Hitting our sweet spot
Then one of my customers hired me to identify a Computerized Maintenance System to fit their needs. I did a great deal of research and made a recommendation. Interestingly, the client never purchased a system. As a result of my research, Projetech got started in the software industry shortly thereafter when Maintenance Automation Corporation (MAC) approached us about being a value-added reseller (VAR).
We became a Maintenance Automation Corporation (MAC) reseller in 1995. Projetech Software Development Inc (PSDI) acquired MAC in 1996, and in 2006 IBM bought PSDI, which is where our relationship with IBM started.
Projetech and MaaS
As communications technology improved, our ability to deliver software remotely evolved. Known then as an Application Service provider, we began transforming the industry.
We’ve focused on IBM Maximo as a Service since 1999, and it has provided us with excellent opportunities to meet people, provide services globally, and hire a group of exceptional individuals.
It’s been an incredible journey. But at some point, you have to realize you’re not immortal, and you need to plan for the business’ future in a way that doesn’t involve its Founder. In doing so, I elected to identify an opportunity to secure our employees' futures and ensure the company will continue to evolve and leverage its reputation in the market.
Securing Projetech’s future
Galanthus Partners' acquisition of Projetech does just that. It enables Projetech to continue its strong growth and expand its opportunities to develop innovative solutions for its customers.
Galanthus Partners became interested in Projetech because we are the clear leader in cloud-delivered Maximo?, and they view Projetech as an excellent fit under the Galanthus umbrella, continuing to deliver outstanding cloud solutions to their customers worldwide.
This is the start of an exciting new chapter for Projetech. The acquisition by a long-term focused partner in Galanthus will strengthen the business and enable Projetech to cement its industry-leading position as a dominant cloud provider for IBM Maximo.
I am looking forward to watching Galanthus and Projectech reach new heights as our respective teams learn from each other’s experiences and expertise. It is a very exciting time for cloud solution providers, with worldwide demand set to continue growing steadily. I cannot wait to see what the future brings.
