A message from the ESGO leadership

Dear ESGO family and friends, dear colleagues,

We are still under the strong impression of ESGO congress Berlin, with over 2,500 attendees. Thank you for being there with us, for the active discussions and the networking, and for making this congress such a big success!

You, our ESGO members, have made major decisions at the General Assembly held in Berlin, which substantially impact the future of our society.

While two-thirds of our 2300+ ESGO members come from European countries, one-third come from Non-European countries. Unlike European members, Non-European ESGO members until now did not have voting rights. You have decided to?give equal voting rights to ALL ESGO members.

Furthermore, you decided to have the substantial portion of Non-European ESGO members represented in the council with one fixed council seat among the 16 regularly elected council positions. We consider these crucial steps towards an equality-diversity-inclusion approach of the ESGO and significant enrichment for our society.

In line with these considerations, the ESGO is also?waiving the membership fee for our colleagues from low and low-middle-income countries.

You have also decided during the General Assembly to?move our ESGO seat from Switzerland to Belgium.

By moving to a European Union country, the ESGO will be able to apply for and access European Union grants, which we consider a potential major source of income for the ESGO in the future to drive science and progress in the field of gynaecological oncology.?

It will also help us to establish ESGO recognition as THE organisation representing the gynaecological oncology subspecialty at the European Commission and EU Parliament.?
