Message from Dr. Can (John) Saygin Welcoming Abby Guillory as the New Assistant Vice President for Research Enhancement
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Abby Guillory, MLIS, CRA , as the new Assistant Vice President for Research Enhancement at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley . Abby brings a wealth of experience and expertise in educational leadership, faculty research development, and research administration, making her an ideal candidate for this role.
In her new position, Abby will play a crucial role in supporting UTRGV's mission on our way to research excellence. She will report directly to me and collaborate closely with my leadership in our division. Abby will partner with various stakeholders across UTRGV, as well as external stakeholders at regional, state, and national levels. In addition, she will collaborate with the Division of Academic Affairs to strengthen our commitment to faculty success.
Abby's responsibilities will include developing programs and initiatives that promote faculty research, scholarship, and creative activities. She will provide strategic guidance to faculty at the college/departmental level, lead training programs to enhance their research portfolios, and leverage her expertise in grant writing and collaborative research to empower our faculty.
With previous roles as the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Director of Education and Training at North Carolina State University, Abby has demonstrated her ability to establish and meet strategic goals, foster collaboration, and drive research excellence.
Her appointment reaffirms UTRGV’s Division of Research's commitment to creating a strong research environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and scholarly excellence.
