A Message From the CEO

A Message From the CEO

As we welcome 2025, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering commitment and collaboration demonstrated by everyone in the MSQH community. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones in elevating healthcare standards in Malaysia, and I am excited to share our progress and aspirations for the year ahead.

MSQH has made significant strides in strengthening healthcare quality and safety with a total of 123 hospitals having current accreditation status as of 31st December 2024, underscoring our shared dedication to ensuring safe and quality healthcare. MSQH has also surveyed 46 hospitals throughout the year of 2024 and aims to increase the number of surveys this year. To further enhance the accreditation process, MSQH actively engages in ongoing professional development, including New Surveyor Training and Internal Surveyor Training, to expand the pool of qualified surveyors. The MSQH strives to continuously improve and raise the bar for quality and patient safety, while achieving excellence in clinical outcomes.

Our advancement in the Medical Clinic, Chronic Dialysis and Dental Clinic Accreditation Programme have been equally noteworthy. The Medical Clinic Accreditation Standards has been revised to its 2nd Edition, which will further enhance its implementation, with the strong support from the Ministry of Health Malaysia. MSQH also organised a centralised training involving 12 MOH clinics, as well as a training to a several private clinics, which enabled them to prepare for surveys this year. The 2nd Edition revision to the Dental Clinic Accreditation Programme is entering into the pilot phase. We remain committed to strengthening the support from hospitals, medical clinics, dialysis centers, and dental clinics to ensure our standards are more widely adopted.

We are proud to announce the ongoing development of the Hospital Accreditation Standards 7th Edition. This initiative is indicative of our commitment to incorporating and adapting the latest best practices and assessment guidelines from the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA). The new standards will feature a process trail incorporated into the survey process, clinical tracer methodologies to enhance their effectiveness, empowerment to the healthcare providers and patients, and digitalization of the standards.

We expanded partnerships with local and international stakeholders, including industry leaders, institutions, and government agencies, who share our vision of advancing healthcare quality and safety in the year 2024. As part of our efforts to nurture awareness and cultivate future leaders in healthcare quality, we have conducted courtesy visits to local universities and educational institutions. We are also actively seeking to engage and improve ties with more partners, relevant stakeholders and industry players, in pursuit to ensure healthcare facilities meet the optimum standards of practice.

In 2024, we achieved a significant milestone by being successfully re-certified by the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA) for the Organisational and Surveyor Training Programme Accreditation (2024-2028), marking our fifth consecutive cycle of accreditation. MSQH also maintains its Standards Accreditation, certified for the period 2022–2026, further solidifying our global standing in advancing healthcare quality and safety.

These achievements would not have been possible without the collective dedication of our members, surveyors and councilors, committees, partners, and stakeholders. Your unwavering support is fundamental to our success, and I am confident that, together, we will reach even greater heights in 2025.

Thank you for your trust and commitment to our shared vision of quality healthcare for all.
