A Message on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

A Message on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

"The time is always right to do what is right.”
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I hope this quote reminds you, today and every day, that the efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in our country are ongoing.?At Bread Financial , our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I) office has built upon our strong culture to further create inclusiveness for all associates.?We’re excited about the progress made and look forward to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive Bread Financial and beyond.

But while Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday and opportunity to pause and celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re going, there is still much work to be done.?Today, consider ways to honor Dr. King’s message and legacy by serving others and recognizing a “Day On, Not a Day Off.” Since 1994, the Corporation for National and Community Service has worked with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) to promote the federal holiday as a day of service and a way to connect service to the social justice issues Dr. King fought against.

On this MLK Day, individuals across the country will join together to make our communities better. It is an opportunity to reflect, learn, give back and connect over common goals. I plan to spend the day doing just that, and I hope you will do the same.

Remember, Dr. King’s words...

“Life’s most persistence and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?"

Love today's message Calvin! I grew up in the Atlanta area and I got to visit the King Library and King Center for Non-violent Social Change several years ago.
