A Message to Current & Future Engineers

MEP Practice Builder | Leadership Development | Sustainable Engineering
Remember the moment when you decided to become an engineer? Remember those feelings which led to your career in this industry? Remember your childhood dreams, your adult goals, and your early motivations?
Maybe you simply wanted to solve problems. Maybe you wanted to design spaces where people spend most of their lives – in buildings. Or was your motivation to work with innovative thought leaders throughout the world or alongside talented architects, developers, and experts in their field?
Whatever your motivations, I want to remind you of what sparked those initial thoughts and inspire you to reignite your passion. You have a rare, historic opportunity to again fall in love with your job and those same reasons that seduced you years ago, or possibly decades ago.
As technology and the world continues to evolve, and our industry redesigns itself to keep up with these integrative changes, maybe your personal drive has transformed itself as well. Maybe you are more interested in directly impacting the reduction of carbon emissions and climate change or designing systems that mitigate the spread of viruses like COVID-19. Or maybe you are ready to go back to working in an office setting to personally connect and collaborate with other innovators.
Whatever your current motivation, keep in mind that engineering likely designed and erected your career from the ground up. Its very definition is the action of working artfully to bring something about. If once upon a time you wanted to literally change the world, now is the time to do so as our industry experiences unprecedented growth and opportunity for skilled and talented engineers such as yourself. This message is just an appreciative reminder of what you once dreamed to become in our field.?
And for those of you entering the field, I want you to think about what drives and motivates you to become an engineer and the type of projects that excite you. Whatever your motivations are, we at Glumac want to help you pursue your goals. Whether it’s working on the latest NFL stadiums, tallest buildings on the West Coast, climate action plans for universities, or sustainability guidelines for the largest tech companies in the world, we can help you realize your dreams.?
As Walt Disney reminded his “Imagineers” about the innovative Epcot Center, it will always be in a state of becoming, never ceasing to be a living blueprint of the future. The same can be said for engineers. Your personal blueprints from years ago should never cease to be. Imagine that.
