Message of congratulations to President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the Republic of Ghana

Dear Mr. President-elect,

Please accept my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of Ghana. I wish you every possible success and wisdom in your new duties. I also wish our Ghanaian brothers and sisters peace and prosperity.

As a Liberian, I feel privileged and blessed to count Ghana as a most important partner in West Africa. Your election will certainly consolidate democracy in our sub-region and the African continent.

I proudly and humbly share with your Excellency a common vision to promote peace and build sustainable and prosperous societies. I pray that relations between Ghana and Liberia as well as between our peoples will grow stronger.

On 17 October 2016, I publicly announced my candidacy for President of Liberia in the 2017 elections.  As I embark on that journey with humility and determination, I look forward to working with your Excellency with the aim of bringing Liberia closer to a dear friend. I would also be privileged to learn from and rely on your Excellency for the achievement of lasting peace and security in our sub-region and throughout the African continent.

I sincerely hope to be given soon the privilege to meet with your Excellency at a time you will find most suitable.
