UK Fencing Market Insight Report - September 2023

Siddall & Hilton, presents its first UK Fencing Industry Insights Report. This report offers a comprehensive analysis of the fencing industry's market trends, economic indicators, and their impacts.

Key findings include:

• Over the past 3 months, UK GDP has seen a 0.2% increase and a 0.9% increase over the past 12 months, indicating moderate growth.
• The Glenigan Index reports a 5% decrease over the past month and a substantial 21% decrease over the past year, indicating a declining trend in construction project starts.
• The 3-month trend in construction orders shows a decrease of 7.1%, suggesting some challenges in the sector.
• Fluctuating steel prices challenge production costs and pricing.
• Energy investments trigger security demand, while transport projects influence regions.
• Government infrastructure investments boost demand, but sector investment is down.
• Military activity affects specialised fencing demand.

The report indicates a mixed outlook for the UK fencing market due to economic uncertainty, government spending, raw material prices, and defence strategy changes. Steel prices are declining, but instability remains due to the Ukraine conflict.
