Merry Christmas, Goodfellas!

Merry Christmas, Goodfellas!

We arrived in this strange museum in a rainy day of October. It was supposed to be a museum of antiquities, that's why I was interested to visit it. But actually it was a big hangar with a great collection of old Chinese house’s doors from last century. The gallery manager said they saved from demolishing.

Anyway, frankly speaking, to me the most interested part was the south wall of the hangar.

Along the wall, we found 8 paintings each one 2 meters high. My daughters and I wowed and I immediately tried to figure out who they were. I didn't recognized all of them, especially the Chinese.

Later I researched the ones I didn’t recognized and studied a little bit their biography.

From left to right: Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Lenin, Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai and Hua Guofeng. (I don't think it is by case there are 8 paintings…)

The happy coincidence is that recently I read several posts celebrating the 40th anniversary of China’s reforms. In fact, on December 18, 1978, Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping announced an ambitious plan to "reform" and "open up" the Communist country's tightly regulated state-run economy.

Well, it seems to not only to me that Chairman Mao and his comrades are still well present on current China’s leaders thoughts. Thinking at this museum, I actually kind of hear somebody from Bejing are saying: “Merry Christmas, Goodfellas!”.

PS: Merry Christmas everybody!!
