Meritocracy should not enshrine the principle that merit is above equality. It's not about boosting superiority, or we'd be moving towards an aristocracy, but rather recognising individual effort and ability. Meritocracy is therefore linked to the notion of equal opportunities, where everyone has the chance to achieve success based on their effort and merit, regardless of their socio-economic situation or family background.?
in the challenging economic and geopolitical context we live in, meritocracy must play a central role in encouraging promotion based on performance and ability, rather than privilege or favouritism. Unfortunately, something that still happens in different sectors of the economic activity and in the public sphere.
Today's leaders should start to value meritocracy in the selection of their staff in order to guarantee efficiency, innovation and fairness in the organisations.
The defence of meritocracy is based on the guiding principle for selecting and promoting talent that values individuals who demonstrate exceptional skills, competences and results, allowing them, or giving them opportunities, to rise to leadership positions, regardless of their origin or political connections. By prioritising merit and individual skills, companies, public entities and organisations, can promote a more productive and fairer working environment.

In my opinion, meritocracy should not enshrine the principle that merit is above equality. However, it is important to rethink meritocracy in order to avoid contradictory and/or erroneous understandings and achieve a fairer society.
By relying on meritocracy, the private and public sectors can attract and retain qualified talent, promote diversity and inclusion, and achieve sustainable long-term results. Meritocracy not only recognises and rewards individual effort and achievement, but also encourages innovation and collaboration, contributing to a dynamic and motivating work environment and to the growth and success of organisations. And that's what we all want - Motivation, growth and success!
In short, meritocracy challenges traditional hierarchies and promotes a fairer and more efficient working and governance environment, where new leaders are recognised and promoted based on their performance and significant contributions.

Aguardo resposta!
