February has been a month of powerful stories, deep reflections, and incredible growth—both personally and professionally. From capturing transformational patient journeys to stepping into new spaces, every experience reinforced the impact of storytelling in bringing hope and healing.
?? Inside this month’s edition:
?? A Deeper Look at Healing – For the first time, I filmed inside our onboard laboratory while following a patient with sickle cell disease. Seeing how our lab team plays a crucial role in delivering safe surgeries and witnessing a crew member donate blood for this patient was a powerful reminder of the unseen heroes behind every surgery.
?? Sharing on Gratitude – I had the privilege of speaking during our Monday morning all-hands devotion, reflecting on how God has sustained me on this journey. His provision has been undeniable, including a much-needed blessing this month—thanks to generous donations, I was finally able to get a new pair of glasses!
?? Storytelling in Action – My team and I have been following seven patient stories, capturing everything from pre-surgery moments to full transformations. Balancing this with content requests from our National Offices has been a challenge, but seeing stories like Trent Yoder’s published and shared reminded me why storytelling matters.
?? March: Stories Beyond the Ship – Next month, we’re taking our storytelling even further! My team and I will be traveling to BO and Kabala to visit patients in their hometowns, capturing the full depth of their transformation journeys beyond the ship. I can’t wait to experience more of Sierra Leone, connect with communities, and bring these incredible stories to life.
February was a month of stretching, growing, and trusting, and I know March will be another chapter filled with impact and learning. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—through prayers, encouragement, and support. The privilege of doing this work is something I don’t take for granted.
Here’s to another month of hope and healing! ????
