The end of last year gave David the opportunity to once again work with science and technology company, 默克 at its Executive Leadership Team Meeting in Switzerland.
David was particularly enthusiastic about this, as having worked with worked them in a virtual format previously as well as in North America, this was his first time meeting the European leadership team.
Taking place in the picturesque Andermatt at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Reussen the event was a chance for the team to reflect on their 2022 performance and key achievements.
The objective of bringing the leadership team together was to unite them, not just as business leaders but as individuals and people who could appreciate that by working together they could help to fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.
David examined themes of relationships, communication and collaboration. He explored the role other people play in our successes and the role of discretionary effort in everything that we do.
He wanted to challenge and disrupt the leadership team's ability to think about their future to help push them towards their objectives. Using the Breaking News activity he challenged the delegates to write a news report that is based 12 months in the future. As part of this LightBulb exercise the participants are required to not only script it but also to film it, storyboard it, direct it, shoot it and then finally present it.

As an activity this challenges the audience to be future focused, to think ahead, to plan for the future, to anticipate obstacles and to think about how they would respond to the expected and unexpected challenges that that might face them.
While the exercise was demanding and challenging the session itself was incredibly high energy with the teams coming together and stepping out of their comfort zones.
David said: “The Breaking News activity is not an easy thing to do but every single one of the delegates ran towards the challenge. They embraced the discomfort and all of them produced a really superb video and news report. Not only was it a lot of fun and super interactive, but it also set their vision and their ambition for the years ahead as a business, as a leadership team and as professionals.
“They really pushed themselves and in doing so they proved that when you work together you can achieve so much more than the sum of your individual parts.
“It was a pleasure to be a part of and I was particularly delighted to do this event, because I had previously worked with this team virtually at their annual meeting and while that was a really fun event, nothing quite beats meeting them in person.”
