Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Day of Caring A Heartfelt CSR Event at SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi
In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the team of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services South Africa (MBFS) organized a Day of Caring at the SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi. This event aimed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the children residing there. Mamelodi is one of the biggest villages in South Africa that provides alternative care to?approximately 90 children in 11 family houses, and a local foster care family.
We arrived at the SOS Children's Village with enthusiasm and dedication and wasted no time in getting to work, preparing, and painting the library to give the area a vibrant new look for the children to explore and learn.
In addition, volunteers joined forces with the house mothers to prepare and serve lunches to the children. This collaborative effort fostered a sense of community and togetherness among all participants.
In addition to these efforts, MBFS also provided much-needed stationery packs for the children's educational needs helping for the start of the school year. These supplies were packaged along with a few delightful, sweet treats and distributed to ensure that every child had access to the tools necessary for their academic success.

Furthermore, MBFS ran an internal book drive and proudly donated books collected to the SOS Children's Village. These books will serve as a valuable resource, encouraging a love for reading and learning among the children.
Overall, MBFS's Day of Caring at the SOS Children's Village was a testament to the company's commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Through our generosity and compassion, MBFS and its volunteers left a lasting impression on the children, brightening their lives and inspiring hope for the future.
Robert Hoffman commented that “Our relationship with the SOS Childrens Village in Mamelodi started in 2020 during the Covid lockdown period, one of the hardest times in the recent past for South Africa and in particular the children in the Village. The global Mercedes-Benz Mobility initiative served as the most recent indication for us to persist in our collaboration and enhance our support efforts. Our heartfelt appreciation and recognition go out to our headquarters colleagues for their financial support, enabling us to make an impact in our community. The smiles and laughs from the children were the best feedback we could have asked for. Special thanks to the organization team lead by Natasha-Lee!”
