Mentorship Fails

Mentorship is a proven ways to success. Most people view having a good mentor as their ticket to greater height or stardom. Mentorship offers you a lot of benefits. A great mentor normally shares his knowledge and experiences in order to help you succeed. It’s like having a wonderful trusted partner to go to whenever you’re feeling unsure or in need of support. They can help you set and achieve your goals, make smart business decisions, overcome challenges, learn new skills or simply offer a different perspective when you’re facing obstacles in your business. The benefits are truly endless.
Why Mentorship Fails
However, mentoring sometimes goes bad. The key reason mentoring fails is that the mentee is not willing to get out of their comfort zone and work towards their goal. They just want to wait for success to happen.
A lot of people thought that once they have a mentor, their success is guaranteed but that is totally not true. Having a mentor might be your first step towards a lot of work before you will reach a new height. As a mentee, you need to put in great effort in order to achieve your goal. Your mentor can’t do that for you. Mentor is just like your compass which will provide you with the right guidance and sometimes share their network with you but they cannot do your work for you. Like it or not, you still have to do the dirty job.
I personally have a few mentors on different aspects of my business and life. I really appreciate their effort to help me to grow. They are the ones who keep challenge me to get out of my comfort zone and do the things I normally don’t want to do. Through that process, I become a better person.
Should You Get A Mentor?
The answer is definitely “YES”. Mentors are helpful regardless of where you are in your life, whether you are fresh out of school or a few years from retirement, there are always others who have “been there, done that” from whom you can learn. So no matter who you are, I always say, “NOW is a great time to start.”
The next important question will be who can be your mentor? My mentor is normally the best in what they do. For example, late last year when I want to start my new online business, I found one of the best internet marketing expert, Simon Leung (SimonLeung.com) as my mentor. In fact, I have tried doing online business for a while but I still can’t achieve the result that I want but with the mentorship of Simon, I am able to achieve better result within weeks. Selecting the RIGHT mentor for you is very important to help you get result fast instead of wasting your time because today’s business is so dynamic and changes so fast.
