Mentorship Clinic for Leaders

Mentorship Clinic for Leaders

Extremely delighted and enriched being part of a workshop conducted by Prof Debasish Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode. He made his sessions so lively with anecdotes, stories and framework.

The biggest takeaway for me is Leadership 4.0 framework.

- Leadership is a Position; No, it's Disposition.

- Leadership is expertise - No it's Flexipertise (Flexibility & Expertise)

- Leadership is authority - no it's influence, distributed equity.

Evolution of Leadership – from Muscular → Methodical ?→ Relational ??→ Responsive. ?He defines core leadership in this cognitive world / disruptive world as – Adaptability, Curiosity and Creativity.

Carbon (Human) Brain vs Silicon Brain – Yes, human brain can never be overtaken.

He says there is nothing called Multi-tasking, its only solo / mono tasking; Absolutely it has to be one at a time with a razor focus to get results.

Four dimensions of Human (no other single species has this advantage) - Reasoning / Rational behaviour, Emotion, will and Ingenuity.

The mind is a collection of frames / ideas / beliefs. Rate of change is very fast.

We don’t know whether God or superpower exists, but we know so many things like nature we don’t have control on it. He says surrender to the unknowns or open to ecological intelligence and that will give you superior results.

Tension is who think should be vs Relaxation is who you are. ?

What is leadership - The basis of leadership is the capacity of the leader to?change the mindset, the framework of another person - Warren Bernis

We had a session on Blue Ocean Strategy from Prof Rajesh Upadhyayula; He says breakthrough existing problem and redefining existing industry as Growth.

Non disruptive creation is called blue ocean strategy and value curve in this is combination of multiple drivers. This also results in High Quality, Low Cost and High Volume.

He shared Infinite Vision: The Story of Aravind Eye Hospital, as the perfect example for Blue Ocean Strategy. Pavitra Mehta shares this in 20+ min video in an amazing away, deciphering entire business model, moat etc.,

Campus Experience

I was very reluctant to go for this workshop due to hectic work schedule. As I reached and met 10 other participants at the Airport, my impression changed, and this has become yet another lifetime learning treasure. Extremely happy that I went for this program. I need this kind of breaks and energy boosters once in a while. ?IIM Kozhikode Campus was amazing in the lush greens and mountains, one day rain added to the beauty. Very impressive to note that it is a plastic free campus. The entire team across all levels have been very very humble and welcoming. ?The Restaurant in the Management Development Centre took special interest arranged Onam Sadhya (feast) the delicious and colourful bundle of 16 dishes. This is my first program at any of the IIMs in India.?
