Mentoring for Neurological Therapists

At ARC, we provide a mentoring program with access to Senior neurological therapists in a range of disciplines from physiotherapy/occupational therapy and exercise physiology. Our therapists are highly experienced and excellent teachers.

What to expect from your session.

These sessions are tailored to your own learning needs which are carefully established in the first session, we then work out a schedule to suit your availability and requirements. Typically, sessions will focus on case studies that you provide of complex clients that you would like support with. We often use videos and pictures when discussing your clients so that we can help with analysis and clinical reasoning. We then move on to problem-solving and treatment ideas and options based on current evidence. Our therapists have experience in treating stroke/spinal cord injury/brain injury/multiple sclerosis/functional neurological disorder as well as a number of other neurological disorders. We also work across outpatient and community settings with both private and NDIS participants. We have a lot of experience with NDIS report writing and equipment sourcing and prescription.

Supporting you when you need it and how you need it.

Sessions are completed over teleconferencing which makes it easy for you or your team to attend sessions at a time that is convenient to you. Some mentoring clients choose weekly sessions initially/ others prefer monthly / and we have some that attend on a more ad hoc basis when they have a complex client that they would like support with. Our aim is to support you to provide the best possible quality and care for your clients as we would our own. We also have some mentoring clients who are based more locally to Sydney who sends their clients for a review with us in the clinic and we can then support them to continue treating these clients over the longer term.

We have a range of clinicians who currently utilise our program, from newly qualified to those who are based regionally or lone working and would like additional support.

Those already on our mentorship program report increased confidence in working with clients with neurological conditions, increased creativity with treatment options and a better understanding of how to apply current research to their clients.

Continuing your learning and support.

There is no lock-in contract for our mentorship program. We simply make a short term plan depending on your learning goals. As a large neuro-rehab practice, we have a comprehensive library that we can draw from to support you with background learning outside of sessions through our ARCademy.
