Be the mentor you wish you had
Mentors play a big role in the personal and professional growth of any individual. If you are a mentor to someone and ever find yourself asking what kind of mentor should you be, simply ‘be the mentor you wish you had.’ Look back at your journey and implement the best learnings from mentors that inspired you the most
Explore, don’t Enforce
As a mentor, don’t try to impose your life experiences on your mentee to accelerate their growth. Rather, help them explore the different channels and paths to development and guide them to overcome any challenges that come in the way.
Be open to Learning
Don’t see your mentee as someone beneath you, incapable of teaching you a thing or two. Leverage the power of reverse mentoring and be open to learning new skills and competencies from your mentee to enrich your experience.
Become a Sponsor
Once you are confident about your mentee, don’t just focus all your energy in guiding him/ her. Rather, become their spokesperson in your network. Introduce them to individuals who can add value to their journey.
In short, keep an open mind and help your mentee unleash his/ her unlimited potential.
