The week before Christmas, Drew received a call shortly after midnight regarding an urgent situation at a town residence: two bats had found their way inside, and one had entangled itself in the hair of a resident. Calm, professional, and quick to act, Drew arrived at the scene, where the homeowner had safely contained the bats. Recognizing the potential danger, particularly the risk of rabies, Drew immediately prioritized the family’s safety.

By early the next morning, Drew drove the bats to Boston to expedite testing for rabies. Less than 24 hours later, he received the lab results and called the family immediately to deliver the news they’d hoped for: no rabies detected—a tremendous relief with Christmas just days away. But Drew didn’t stop there.

Just after the holidays, when the official printed lab report arrived, Drew hand-delivered it to the family, ensuring they had a copy for peace of mind and their records.

I know this story firsthand because the resident came into my office to share it with me. They were over the moon with the exceptional service they had received.

Drew’s professionalism, compassion, and commitment to excellence underscore what it means to serve. His actions transformed what could have been a stressful holiday season into one of relief and gratitude for this family.
