Your monthly practice??

A neuroscience insight to reframe your mind. Actionable advice from a medical perspective. A journaling prompt or somatic practice to deepen self-connection.

1. NEUROSCIENCE

Ever feel like your brain just won’t shut off? Like you’re running on empty, yet your mind is flooded with thoughts? That’s because chronic overwhelm hijacks your prefrontal cortex (your brain’s CEO) and floods your limbic system with stress signals, making even simple decisions feel exhausting.

When mental overload becomes the norm, your brain conserves energy by defaulting to autopilot mode—leaving you feeling stuck, unmotivated, and reactive instead of intentional. The good news? The brain can reset. But first, you need to clear the mental noise decisions.

2. BODY TALK

Instead of pushing through exhaustion, try this bilateral stimulation technique, a simple yet powerful way to rewire your brain and reduce mental overwhelm.

2-Minute Brain Reboot Using Bilateral Stimulation:

  • Cross your arms over your chest, and gently tap your shoulders, alternating left and right.
  • Breathe deeply and rhythmically. As you tap, inhale for four counts, hold for two, and exhale for six.
  • Move your eyes side to side as if watching a slow-motion tennis match. (This engages both hemispheres of your brain and helps shift you out of fight-or-flight mode.
  • Pair this with a calming mantra: “I am safe. I am capable. I am present.”?
  • Repeat for 2 minutes until you feel your mind quiet and your body soften.

This technique is backed by EMDR therapy principles, which help the brain reprocess stress and create a sense of safety.

3. SOULFUL CONNECTION

Journal or reflect on:

  • What does mental overwhelm feel like in my body?
  • Where am I overloading my brain with unnecessary decisions or worry?
  • What can I let go of to create more space for clarity?

Small shifts create momentum. Mental exhaustion isn’t a sign to push harder—it’s a signal to realign.
