#MentalHealthMatters
At Doctor On Demand, we talk a lot about the importance of full mind and body care. We believe that in order to view the complete picture of a person’s health, you should have an understanding of their physical health and their mental health. And we should prioritize wellness for both. Yet last year, only 41% of the 1 in 5 American adults who experienced a mental illness received mental health services. That’s a shortcoming that we know needs improvement.
We see factors such as a lack of access to care, stigma and misunderstandings about mental health, as major contributors to this gap. That’s why this Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re spreading the message that #MentalHealthMatters. Raising awareness about the importance of mental health is the first step towards making sure everyone receives the care they need. Improving access to care is the next step.
Through our mental health services, we’re proud to help improve access while providing a safe space for patients. Our licensed psychologists and board-certified psychiatrists are available via video visits, seven days a week. Whether someone is seeking talk therapy or medication management, our team is here to listen, understand and provide care. Accessible from anywhere in the U.S., our services breaks down the obstacles typically faced when seeking help: access, cost, and time constraints.
We understand the benefit of these services both as a service and as an Employer. At Doctor On Demand, we offer covered psychology and psychiatry visits to all Doctor On Demand employees -- a benefit that we’re proud to provide and one that more than half of our employees have tapped into. We invite you to take a free mental health assessment to see if seeking care is right for you.
This month and every month, #MentalHealthMatters. We hope that you take time this May to take a mental health day for yourself, seek out someone to talk to or share why #MentalHealthMatters to you.
