Mental Wellbeing with Unisus

Empowering people to reach their potential
Counselling can help you when you are feeling confused, anxious or depressed about the future. It is not about the counsellor giving you advice – its about the counsellor working with you to find your own solution. The counsellor can offer tools to help you explore what that solution might be.
We provide person-centred counselling to those who feel stuck, those with anxiety and depression and people with other issues that are impacting their mental wellbeing. You might want to feel more in control of your life. Often when life throws everything it’s got at us we can feel overwhelmed and wonder “why me”. We can work with you to get your mojo back. This may not be an easy process but counselling can help you process how you think and feel about a situation. This helps to get in touch with your true values away from what other people want you to do.
Counselling can help any issue that you have because it starts from the point of view that you are the expert of your situation and supports you to find the answers.
Our Qualified Counsellors
Some of our counsellors are qualified and have experience of working with a variety of clients. If you are self funding or your employer is funding your counselling then you will be matched with a qualified counsellor. You will be seen within 7 days of contacting us for an initial assessment to ensure we provide a counsellor who can meet your needs. We are able to offer a subsidised rate for those who are on benefits but for whom our student counsellors are unable to work with.
Our Student Counsellors
Our student counsellors are on placement with us and are providing their time unpaid in order to complete their course requirements. Our students come to us having already studied for many years and practiced their skills in the classroom with each other. They have a great deal of support from Unisus and their college in order to work with our clients. However as they are in training our initial assessment ensures they are working with clients who have lower level needs. As our students are on placement and we have a small amount of funding to support them, the counselling offered through our student counselling is free of charge to the person having counselling. We offer this service to those on a low income and with lower level needs. There is a high demand for this service, but you will be offered an initial assessment within 2 weeks of contacting us.
Book Now!
Your initial consultation is free of charge. In this consultation we will explore your requirements and needs, the practicalities of when you are available and think about which of our counsellors is the right fit for you. If at any point you feel that the counsellor who you are working with is not quite right for whatever reason, we have other options which might work best for you. If the first counsellor you work with isn’t quite right, this isn’t a failure – it’s about getting a good fit and establishing a therapeutic relationship. This is where the healing can begin, when trust has been established and you both feel comfortable in each others company.
