Let the 2024 reflections commence! I swear, every time we get towards the end of the year, it's like I have annual amnesia when I say things like "how is it the end of the year already?!" Well, it's because we did another revolution around the sun and that's how time works haha. Sorry, I digress ??.
As I look back to January, I am so proud and humbled by the achievements of Melissa Doman LLC. For the most part, I was a one-woman show and I just knew I could be doing more to fulfill my mission by equipping more companies, individuals, and leaders to have constructive and realistic conversations about mental health, team dynamics, and communication in the workplace, even the hard parts.
It’s because of this small and mighty team of dynamically skilled and equally dedicated contractors who have been supporting me that I’ve been able to scale my business to provide more programs and courses to serve all of you in the most effective and helpful ways possible, whether you’re an OG or new client. Whether it’s the announcement of The Right Stuff? legal program or last month’s launch of Mental Health at Work Conversational Literacy? - for Leaders don’t you worry, I’m just getting started!
Here’s what I got up to around #MentalHealthAtWork in the #WorldOfWork this past month:
Warner Bros., MasterCard, & Me: Talking Mental Health at Work In Brooklyn
I had a blast at my 2nd From Day One event in Brooklyn last week! Thank you BetterHelp Business for sponsoring me again so I could share Mental Health At Work industry best practices for supporting employees during challenging times.
A big shout out to my fellow People First: The Crucial Role of Investing in Employees in Challenging Times panelists for their incredibly valuable contributions to our conversation and for encouraging employers to think about so many critical aspects of supporting employees:
Bonus New core memory unlocked: my AHmazing Operations Manager, Ilana Morris, came to help out with my book signing! We've been working together for a year and this was the first time we met in person AND it was as awesome as I knew it would be.
Behind The Scenes: My Leadership Course Goes Abroad - To Germany!
When I talk about investing in your development, believe me when I say it’s a two-way street! I just flew across the pond to Germany so my Lead Facilitator could take me through the new Melissa Doman LLC Mental Health at Work Conversational Literacy? - For Leaders certificate program!
Sure, we hiked Bavarian mountains, gleefully admired tourists “admiring” our selfie skills, Zoomed with the rest of the team back in the States, and cuddled with adorable co-working space dogs, but the point is this: if you want to make something great (including yourself), you have to commit to investing the time and energy it takes!
By going through the program as a participant, I was able to focus on the quality of the material and the instruction. These are critically important elements of a successful and worthwhile training and I’m just gushing with pride and so excited for you to participate!
A huge THANK YOU to Aurelia Hack for taking the course from my brain to prime time (live in-person and virtual facilitation begins in January 2025!) and for being the shoulder I needed to lean on during a very tiring week. Over the past few months, I’ve learned just how much my team makes me better.
Why Mental Health Matters in Construction
Talking about mental health at work can be challenging in ANY industry. And yes, there are some industries where it’s more challenging because of a variety of factors surrounding norms, spoken and unspoken ‘rules’, and different personalities etc. Talking about mental health in construction is one of those industries where it’s been a slow roll, but it’s moving forward! One hard hat at a time!
