Mental Health at Work: Walk the Talk

I absolutely LOVE?this interview?with the VP of Communication of Shutterfly on how she is helping to change the conversation on mental health. THIS is the type of human, compassionate approach that transforms organizational cultures around mental health, and when I do this work with companies they are always surprised by how eager their employees are to have the conversation.
The difference between walking into work on a Monday feeling like you can talk openly with your boss and your coworkers about any mental health struggles you or a family member are experiencing, and NOT feeling like you can have that conversation, is hugely impactful on productivity, employee satisfaction and retention. No employee assistance program in the world is going to help if people are afraid that they will be punished and not supported for being honest about mental health issues.
If you own a company, manage a team or direct any group of people, this matters to your people, it matters to their families. I promise you the folks at Shutterfly are far better for how their VP is walking the talk! Check it out, and I hope you enjoy the read.
If you know any parents in the Sherwood, Oregon area, my next Parenting and Mental Health conference is in less than 3 weeks, on April 22nd. See the registration info here and below. Can't make that date? We've got another event on June 3 in the Hillsboro area, and I'll have that registration info soon.
Have a great week!
