Maria Pascale founded Mental Health for Romania having become increasingly aware of the lack of dialogue around mental health in Romania during her undergraduate abroad. Having studied physics at Cambridge and continuing with a masters in neuroscience at University College London – she founded the NGO hoping to contribute to creating a more understanding environment to support young people with issues around mental health.??

Many teenagers in Romania struggle with their mental health, yet the topic is still taboo in Romanian schools, and there is close to zero education on the topic. Through interactive workshops, Mental Health For Romania aim to reduce teenagers’ stigma against mental illness, inform them about common mental health conditions like anxiety or depression, and provide tools and?signposting to get support if they struggle.

Since the organisation was founded, Maria’s team of volunteers have delivered workshops to 1700 students in over 60 schools across the country.
