Today is Mental Health Day in our country. What can we do to support not only our own mental health but the mental health of those around us?????
- Choose our words, tone, and body language carefully. Our actions have the power to shape the emotions that we and others feel.
- Validate the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of others. We often tend to dismiss others experiences as unimportant not realizing the deep impact that we can have on someone's mental wellbeing.
- Study human behavior and notice when those around you are struggling. Work diligently to support them and most importantly practice the golden rule - treat others how you would want to be treated.
- Give yourself space to process your thoughts and emotions while also giving others space to process theirs.
- Treat others with respect, gentleness, and patience.
Remember, all actions begin with thoughts so the more we can support a positive culture, the better the relationships and outcomes of a team.
