Mental Health: Let's Stop Dwelling on the Past

Mental Health: Let's Stop Dwelling on the Past

We can't change anything that already happened. The only thing we can change is our attitude to unfolding events in our lives. Instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, we can zoom out to the bigger picture and understand the process we're going through.

And we all love to dwell on the past - all the terrible things that happened to us, how bad our upbringing was, how we got the short stick in life, etc. But the problem is that our society has turned this into a whole industry - things like one-on-one coaching for employee wellbeing. It's great to have someone listen to our stories, and the stories are fascinating. I'm not talking about when you're sitting around with your friends reminiscing. I'm talking about all the new programs companies are setting up to help with employee wellbeing. I know it's well intentioned, but it won't fix anything. It will only draw out the previous stage of our development.

If we are tired of being dragged down by circumstances, the best thing we can do is learn to break free to that collective space we all share. In this special environment, we can talk about many aspects of human behavior without delving into anyone's personal affairs or attributes. We can learn about our nature together, and understand how the only way to break free of our limiting individual ego is by learning to rise above our egos together.

What Employees Really Need - Emotional Fulfillment

The thing that will really lift your people up is learning to tap into our collective intelligence together. On this path, we don't dwell on the past or on the individual experience of any single person. Because let's face it - we all have tons of sob stories to tell. We all have tons of luggage. Going over it all in great detail won't change our future. There is a special method for that called the Connection Method. There is actually no other method in the world that is focused on helping us break free of our selfish thoughts and intentions. Everything we do all day is completely out of self-concern. Once we learn to transform that concern to the collective, we'll be far more satisfied in life. We'll finally be getting that boost of emotional fulfillment we all subconsciously crave but don't know where to find.

We Always Have a Choice

Here's an incredible example for you. Our musician friend Taras was recruited to the Ukraine army along with his bandmates to deal with the Russian invasion. I'm sure he's been to hell and back quite a few times over the last few months. I'm sure he has multiple reasons to sit and cry all day. But what's he doing instead? He's singing his heart out for his country. He's making a conscious decision not to let everything get to him and rather focus on lifting others. That's what the new era is all about. Not getting stuck in our own ego, but to always be thinking about how to contribute something positive to the whole. Here he is singing Stand by Me in a subway with U2's Bono.
