Mental health and wellbeing is something that should be a priority for everyone, but especially in the technology and software development industry. We are constantly under pressure to innovate, to create new ideas and to move at lightning speed.
But it's important to remember that we are all human beings, not machines. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and prioritise our mental health and well being.
In my opinion, there are a few things that businesses can do to support their employees' mental health:
- Make flexibility a priority. Everyone has different needs and circumstances, so it's important to be flexible in how we work.
-Workplace wellbeing. This includes everything from having space for people to meditate or do yoga, to providing mental health resources and support.
-Company socials. It's important to build relationships with our co-workers and to have fun together!
- Empathy. We need to remember that everyone is dealing with their own challenges, so let's be kind and understanding with each other.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, let's take this opportunity to reflect on how we can support each other's mental health in the workplace.
