Mental Health - is it just me?
I recently completed a Leadership and Management training course with the amazing Simon Hares .
For one of our last tasks we were asked to write and present a short thought and emotion provoking speech in 15 minutes.......a task which I was not prepared for! However, the first thing that came to my mind was mental health. I had recently lost a friend through suicide and this was all I could think about, therefore it seemed fitting to write my speech about this.
As it's Mental Health Awareness week I have decided to share this with you all, in the hope that it may help someone - that it may make someone feel less alone - and it may raise a little more awareness that it's not always the quiet people around us that are struggling. So here it goes.........
"One of the most spoken about topics of recent times. Mental Health.
For you, is it a topic? Is it a taboo? Is it a health condition? Is it crazy? Are you crazy? No, I am just me.
It can be difficult to talk about. It can also be a conversation starter.
Is it something you hide? Or is it something you discuss?
For me - it's both. Something that I have come to live with.
Somedays I struggle - and these are probably the days that you will hear me the most. Other days, I don't even think about it.................

Until I do.
And then I question everything. Absolutely. Bloody. Everything.
Is there a right? Is there a wrong? Should we talk about this more? Or do you want to be left alone?
Now, I don't know if this is a cry for help - and we may not always know how we can help each other - so let's just all agree on this.
Let's just all agree to be kind."
