Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and the mental health charity Mind’s ( Mind ) theme for the week is “no mind left behind”. This leads us to ask the question: how equipped are managers within your organisation to support all employees with mental health and wellbeing issues?

Guidance published in March 2022 by NICE and PHE on Mental Wellbeing at Work outlines the following essential skills for managers. They recommend that managers have the skills and knowledge to…

  • Know how to identify early warning signs of poor mental wellbeing
  • Be aware of the stigma associated with poor mental wellbeing
  • Point colleagues towards appropriate information and resources on mental wellbeing
  • Have a conversation about mental wellbeing with an employee
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of mental wellbeing in the workplace

Our Managing Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work course equips managers, team leaders and supervisors with the essential skills they need to manage mental health and wellbeing at work. We are committed to supporting your organisation in ensuring mental health and wellbeing is prioritised and your leaders’ knowledge confident is up-to-date, relevant and of a high quality.

Managing Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work

We recognise that the topic of mental health can be emotive for managers and we aim to create a safe and inclusive space where everyone can participate. Our courses are engaging and interactive whether delivered face to face or online. Workshops include a mix of small and large group discussions, quizzes and polls, individual activities that encourage self-reflection and small group activities for skills practise.

The course can be delivered face to face in one day or online in 2 live sessions (either one day or across 2 days according to your organisation’s requirements). The course is also fully accredited by the CPD Standards Office and delegates will receive a certificate on completion of the training. Delegates will also receive an accompanying workbook which includes self-care tools and other information and resources to refer to after the workshop.

  • The importance of self-care as a manager – delegates will have the opportunity to complete their own self-care audit and develop their own wellbeing action plan.
