Mental Health Awareness in Times of Immense Chaos and Necrocapitalism

May is Mental Health Awareness month, and as we recap on this month's focus theme, I must first ask, how are YOU doing? How are you FEELING??

We typically go about our days exchanging the usual pleasantries that often mask deep concerns and emotions that could be eased if we genuinely cared enough to truly see one another and hold space for the vulnerability required to navigate the challenges of today's society; both personal and professional.?

Unsurprisingly, there are two primary topics that are quite taboo/off limits, especially in the work environment; politics and religion. And yet, these are the core elements of our societal framework causing most of the chaos around us. Many would rather tiptoe and dance around the raging fire amongst us –hesitant to address the imminent danger, and more importantly, how to effectively address the root cause(s). We must address and not simply dress up the issues at hand -grief included.??

Joy shared is doubled; sorrow shared is halved

Psychological safety in the workplace is a new concept that many still do not easily relate to; how one's mental health and wellbeing can and often is impacted by the complex social dynamics of the workplace politics and vice versa.?Similarly, we cannot ignore how as a global collective many are in survival mode; from the Middle East (Palestine) to Africa (Sudan, Congo, and Ethiopia), and the many folks around the world advocating in solidarity with those directly impacted by the necrocapitalistic military-industrial complex. ?

Resilience is the intermediary that keeps fatal outcomes at bay as we wait for humanity to gain greater consciousness. Innovative and strategic divestment from the capitalistic greed that fuels these resource centric proxy-wars are resulting in incremental progress; as rest and intentional Joy become more widely implemented forms of resistance to the status quo. After all, even the strong do eventually get Tiyad.?

Inclusive excellence is not only about recognizing the complexity?of our diverse lived experiences, rather, it is about intentionally seeing and bridging the gaps in our understanding of one another by creating environments that more easily facilitate a culture that innately inspires?a sense of belonging. As always, the question remains, how are YOU intentionally moving beyond performative diversity to real equitable inclusion...because people's lives depend on it!??

in case you needed a reminder.
