Mental Health Awareness in Job Seeking Process - Avoiding Job Seeking Burnout
Mental health awareness is an important part of the job seeking process. It can be especially challenging if you are dealing with a long period of unemployment or trying to make a career change.
The stress and disappointment of being rejected for multiple jobs, coupled with the feeling that your career prospects are in limbo, can lead to burnout very quickly unless you take care of yourself.
Here being an inspired HR, I will discuss ways to maintain mental health awareness in your job seeking process so that you can avoid burnout.
?
First and foremost, it’s important to remember that the job search process is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t expect immediate results- even if you are applying for multiple jobs and sending out many resumes, it can take weeks or even months before you get a callback. It’s important to not become discouraged during this time- instead, keep up the momentum by continuing to apply for new jobs and checking in with contacts that may be able to help you find a job.
?
Second, try to find a healthy balance between job seeking activities and some leisure activities. For example, you could spend two hours a day applying for jobs, followed by one hour of relaxing, such as reading or watching television. Allowing yourself this downtime not only improves your mental health but can also help you better focus when it comes back to the job search and make more productive use of your time.
?
Third, take advantage of support systems that are available in order to maintain good mental health during the job search process. Reach out to friends and family members who can provide emotional support during difficult times. Additionally, there are many online communities designed specifically for job seekers that may be able to provide advice and moral support throughout your journey.

Fourth, Set Realistic and Attainable Goals. One of the biggest reasons job seekers burn out is because they have unrealistic expectations of themselves. Be realistic and set attainable goals, such as applying for a certain number of jobs per week, attending networking events, and preparing for interviews. Make sure to take breaks in between each task, as this will allow you to recharge and avoid burnout.
?
Finally, remember that taking care of your mental health during the job search is just as important as taking care of your physical health. So, make sure to take time for yourself, eat healthy, get enough sleep and exercise regularly. Exercise can be especially beneficial- not only does it release "feel good" hormones that help reduce stress and anxiety, and it can also help improve focus and clarity when you are searching for jobs.
?
In conclusion, maintaining mental health awareness in your job seeking process is essential if you want to avoid burnout. Taking breaks, utilizing support systems and engaging in leisure activities can all contribute to a more successful job search experience. With focus, determination and self-care, anyone can find the job they’re looking for!
Remember to be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way - finding a job is a process, and taking care of your mental health is essential during that process.
