Firstly, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the quintessential Lady Alexander Comfort , a practicing counselling psychologist specializing in clinical and mental health counselling, for joining us on our LinkedIn live program '3,600 Seconds With Industry Leaders' last Thursday.

Our conversation centred around the crucial topic of mental health, and we are grateful for her deep insights and fiercely consistent mental health advocacy in Nigeria for almost a decade. Furthermore, we are most joyful to announce the successful launch of our latest LinkedIn live talk show 'Nigerian Pidgin Business Talk' last Sunday, the 16th of February! ????????

Na who dey breeeeeet? ????

Our maiden episode featured the renowned Ogini Bernard , a foremost Nigerian Pidgin playwright, Nigerian Pidgin educator, keyboard translator, and the list goes on. In fact, he is the writer of Williams Shakespeare's plays (Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, etc) in Pidgin which took him explosively global. Bernard shared his inspiring story of how Nigerian Pidgin has helped him market his business with us. You can also watch the full conversation here on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/live/-ry_1yuTrmU?si=ajAYk9EwjRIVERlC and on LinkedIn https://www.dhirubhai.net/events/howpidgindonhelpmemarketmybusin7295983158498398209/theater/

We are grateful for your support and we still encourage you to join the conversation in the comment sections on LinkedIn and YouTube.

Now, let's dive deep again into the fascinating world of the Nigerian Pidgin language this week. But this time, we will be diving really deeper!

Nigerian Pidgin, also known as Naija Pidgin or 'Broken', is a widely spoken language in Nigeria, with over 75 million speakers. According to Ogini Bernard on our last 'Nigerian Pidgin Business Talk' show, it is a unique blend of different indigenous Nigerian languages, English, Portuguese and other diasporic dialects. Despite its widespread use, Nigerian Pidgin is often underestimated and overlooked - most often by the citizens of its own host country. How sad! Today, I am here to put it to you without any reasonable doubt that this language is a goldmine waiting to be tapped!

Here are some interesting facts about Nigerian Pidgin:

- Nigerian Pidgin is the most widely spoken language in Nigeria, even more than English.

- It is a vital tool for communication in the country, especially in informal settings.

- Nigerian Pidgin has a significant presence in the media, with many radio and TV stations broadcasting in the language.

- It's also used in education, with some schools, including universities and colleges, incorporating Nigerian Pidgin into their curriculum.

- In the business world, Nigerian Pidgin is becoming increasingly important, especially in the informal sector like our entire local marketplaces.

Oh, well... I'm not done 'talking'!

According to Ethnologue , a reliable source on language statistics, the Nigerian Pidgin language is ranked as the 16th most spoken language in the world. This is a remarkable feat, considering the language's humble beginnings. You are free to factcheck this, please. In short, I urge you to.

So, what does this mean for you?

As a business owner, entrepreneur, or individual looking to tap into the Nigerian market, understanding and leveraging Nigerian Pidgin can give you a significant edge. It's a language that transcends ethnic and geographical boundaries, making it an ideal tool for businesses looking to connect with a broader audience. Oh, yes! Na me talk am. Our Naija Pidgin can help you connect with your target audience, build stronger relationships, and ultimately drive business growth within Nigeria, across Western Africa and way beyond borders globally.

So, how can you start unlocking more business opportunities with Nigerian Pidgin?

1. Start by learning basic Nigerian Pidgin phrases and vocabulary. Remember, your spoken language proficiency may not always be the same result-oriented as your written language prowess.

2. Use Nigerian Pidgin in your social media campaigns, advertising, and customer engagement initiatives.

3. Collaborate with influencers who speak Nigerian Pidgin to reach a wider audience.

4. Create content that caters to Nigerian Pidgin speakers, such as videos, podcasts, skits and blog posts.

Remember, at Executive Media Africa , we're committed to helping you succeed in the Nigerian market (likewise the African market at large, of course!). Stay tuned for more insights, latest developments, tips, and resources on how to leverage Nigerian Pidgin for business growth. Before I go, may I remind you to pleeeease prioritize your mental health! ????

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body. Remember to practice self-care, seek help when needed, and support those around you. Until next time, never you stop learning, for life will never stop teaching.

Yours insightfully,
