With World Mental Health Day (October 10th 2016) now here, there is so much information out there finding out more may be a little daunting. Therefore, we are highlighting stress in the workplace and the use of mindfulness to improve morale. With as many as 1 in 4 suffering each year with a mental health condition, it may be time to learn how you can improve your state of mind.
Mental Health covers such a vast area and it is easy to say, ‘Oh I don’t understand what they mean’ and move on. This is where we need to self educate and begin to understand that the range of issues is far reaching…….
- Stress at work
- Stress at home
- Diagnosed mental health issues eg. bipolar, post-natal depression
We work with Corporate companies whose Occupational Health teams are seeing an increase of stress in the workplace. This fact has been highlighted by the study by TUC (Trade Union Centre) and reveals that 70% of workers have expressed concern that stress is a problem in their workplace. The highest proportion of stress in the workplace appears to be in the public sector and the three most recognised areas are listed to show the levels of stress within the workplace according to TUC’s findings.
- Central Government (93%)
- Education (89%)
- Health Services (82%)
Commenting on the report, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said: “The message from the shop floor is clear, stress is becoming a bigger and bigger problem. People who experience high anxiety are less productive and are more likely to take time off. Stress is preventable if staff have reasonable workloads, supportive managers and a workplace free from violence, bullying and harassment.”
Our workshops cover many areas to support and educate, mental health included. We have a highly respected member of the team who delivers a workshop on Mindfulness for a better understanding on the issues that surround mental health and how to use Mindfulness to control many aspects of it.
Please contact us with any questions on our workshops and how they can benefit you as an individual or your company.
