Mental Break for Busy Parents

If you missed my Live Event, check below for the replay.

Are you a busy parent juggling the demands of work and home life while raising teenagers? Do you often feel overwhelmed, stressed, and in need of a mental break? You're not alone.

Many parents, including myself, struggle to find time for themselves. This can lead to mental overwhelm and stress.

In my Live Event, I focused on a much-needed mental break for those of us juggling the demands of work, home life, and raising teenagers. We explored a simple yet powerful technique to help you find peace and clarity amidst the chaos.

?Before diving into our activity, let's take a moment to center ourselves. Find a quiet, comfortable space, take a deep breath in, hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly. ?Now think about how you are feeling right now.? Do you feel tension in your back/ neck or someplace else?? What are you feeling??

?

Materials Needed:

  • A notebook, journal, or paper
  • A pen or pencil
  • A quiet and comfortable space

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Space: Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably without distractions. This could be your desk, a cozy chair, or even a spot in the park. The key is to be in a setting that feels safe and private.
  2. Set a Timer: Decide on a length of time you want to write. This could be as short as 5 minutes or as long as 20 minutes. Setting a timer frees you from watching the clock and allows you to immerse yourself in the process.
  3. Start Writing: Begin writing by writing down everything that comes to your mind. Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, or whether it makes sense. The goal is to keep your pen moving and capture whatever thoughts float through your mind.
  4. Ignore the Inner Critic: It’s common to have an inner critic questioning what you write. For this exercise, try to ignore that voice. Allow yourself to write freely and openly without judgment. Remember, no one else needs to read this and there is no right or wrong way to do this activity.
  5. Continue Until the Timer Stops: Write until your timer goes off or until you feel that you have finished. If you get stuck, try doodling until more thoughts come.
  6. Reflect: After you finish, take a few moments to sit quietly and breathe. Now ask yourself what you want to do with your writing. Read it, rip the paper up, or save it for later. You get to make the choice.

?Estimated Time: 15-20 minutes

?

Reflect on how this activity made you feel. Did you find moments of peace? Did your mind feel a bit clearer? Consider what you want to do with your writing. Keep it as a reminder of your thoughts and feelings or discard it as a symbolic gesture of letting go.

?
