Menstrupedia - Entrepreneur Aditi Gupta’s comic for a cause

Despite the fact that India has a rich history, it is still afflicted by several irrational misconceptions which act like a pest infesting our country's progress. These prejudices are driving towards depravity, delusions, and inconsistencies because they are bound by the obligations of various taboos. Menstruation is one such taboo about which Aditi Gupta has set free. She has given young girls the opportunity to speak openly about the cycle, which was previously dismissed as a form of “whisper”. As the founder of Menstrupedia, Aditi Gupta has catapulted the movement to new heights.?

In an interview, she stated that she began to menstruate at the age of 12 but did not hear about it until she was 15 and was taught about it in class 9. She had to face many restrictions during her menses so much so that she was not allowed to purchase sanitary napkins as it would hamper her family’s reputation.

?After growing up, Aditi made it a mission to do something about this and she along with her spouse Tuhin Paul discovered that even the most educated people followed menstrual myths. She gathered information from a number of doctors and young women and published a comic book featuring three young girls and doctors as the protagonists. She posted these comics on a website that became a useful resource for kids and pre-teens seeking knowledge on puberty and sexuality.?

Menstrupedia is a website dedicated to providing an easy-to-understand guide to menstruation. The main objective of this website is to dispel various prevalent fallacies about menstruation in order to provide a culturally appropriate and easy-to-understand approach to dealing with a taboo subject. This cartoon has been incorporated into the curricula of over 70 schools in India and is used by 6000 schools and 12 non-governmental organisations. It can transmit information in 18 countries and has been translated into 11 languages.?

Menstrupedia has collaborated with Whisper India on various projects, including the Touch the Pickle movement, which features actors Shraddha Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Kalki Koechlin, and others. Aditi's work was first heavily condemned since it addressed a topic that was deemed taboo by the majority of people but later she turned out to be the trailblazer for change with the goal to reach out to people and assist them in rising above the conservative world and creating a haven where nothing can bring them down.
