MEN'S STYLE MISTAKE: EPISODE 7
Hey guys Dan Thomas from Image Doctor and Improvemant.com and keep watching to learn another common men's style mistake to avoid.
Today's men's style mistake is what I call doing a Saturday night fever when I see a guy who has half the buttons of his dress shirt undone and most of his chest on display for the ladies.
Now in case any of the buff body building guys tune out and don't watch till the end, let me explain that there's no societal or men's style rule in place that says the more impressive the chest the more buttons you can undo.
This is not an attack on guys with great chests, you should be proud of the dedication and commitment it's taken to build that impressive chest but here's the thing guys - whilst girls find your well developed chest attractive at the beach and sexy when naked in bed, most will be repulsed at the fact your trying to show off your chest in clothing that is designed and traditionally worn to cover your chest.
So a ladies scoring system will basically work like this:
You'll receive 1 point from her for having an impressive looking chest but then she'll assign you minus 2 points for being so vain as to go out of your way to display it.
Now I'm an image consultant not a mathematician but I'm pretty sure that equates to a figure that starts with minus and you can't achieve professional or social success when you're in the red.
Wearing a host of buttons undone also sends traditional and long held messages that you may be somewhat sleazy, shady, dodgy or at least a very vain and self indulgent character.
I believe having this look ties in well and is a good example of the phrase "confidence is sexy but arrogance is ugly"
So in my professional opinion a guy who's lacking confidence and may give off the vibe he's not happy with his appearance may wear his shirt buttons very high and almost all done up like this:
WRONG
A guy who may give off a more arrogant vibe would have 3 or more buttons undone like this:
WRONG
And then in my professional opinion, a guy who is self assured, confident but not arrogant would undo 2 buttons on his dress shirts when not wearing a tie but never any more or less than that. See below:
RIGHT
So take today's video and advice for what it's worth and how it relates to your professional and social goals and I hope you found the information helpful. If so feel free to like, share and leave your comments down below.
