It is a Latin phrase, usually translated as "a healthy mind in a healthy body". The phrase is to express the theory that physical exercise is an important or essential part of mental and psychological well-being.
Exercise (it doesn't matter which) is NOT all about your body. Many of my friends are doing exercise or gym with the only purpose to have nicer body shape or build muscles. It is a wrong approach! These are important yes but are only side effects. Exercise is really about your brain.
Since the begin of human being,we are evolved to move, and that movement — hunting, foraging, running, climbing — spurred brain growth.
It is not MY theory or just thinking:it is confirmed by top level professors as well.
“Thinking is the evolutionary internalization of movement,” explains New York University neuroscience professor Rodolfo Llinás.
When you’re exercising, your brain is usually not what’s on your mind. But that activity is building your gray matter in myriad ways, making you more alert, creative, motivated, and perceptive. It’s helping you learn better, remember more, and combat stress. It’s boosting your mood while helping you overcome anxiety and depression.
In sum, exercise keeps your brain healthy.
I like playing soccer , I sometimes do running or gym.Just do any exercise you like but find the way to clearly understand the main purpose of any activity you do.
If you read this article carefully it could be useful for you to ask yourself few questions like:
What is your real purpose of exercise?and what about eating or reading books?
