Men’s Health Week (MHW) is an annual observance that aims to raise awareness about the health challenges faced by men and promote strategies for better physical and mental well-being. This significant event encourages men of all ages to prioritize their health, seek preventive care, and engage in conversations about important health issues.??
The theme this year is ‘men's health and the internet’ – which emphasizes the impact of technology and social media on mental health.

Men & Mental Health
According to the Mental Health Foundation, approximately 1-in-8 men have a common mental health problem such as anxiety, stress, or depression. When left unattended, these problems can worsen and be detrimental to those affected.
Statistics from BMI Healthcare, also add weight to the need for more openness around men’s mental health issues, saying that:
·????????Men are around half as likely as women to access psychological therapies.
·????????Men are less likely to speak to family and friends about mental health issues.
·????????28% of men don’t seek help for mental health issues, compared to 19% of women.
·????????75% of deaths by suicide in the UK are men.
·????????Suicide is the most common cause of death for men under 50.
Identifying the symptoms
Recognising the signs of a serious mental health issue can be challenging. Sometimes, it may seem like just a bad day, but certain symptoms may indicate a deeper problem. These signs include anger, irritability, changes in mood, difficulty sleeping, social withdrawal, low energy, substance abuse, and neglecting personal hygiene.
It's important for men to understand that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a courageous step toward resolving their issues.
