Men for Women

As we end March, the month when women were in the lime light, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the men who go out of their way to give that extra little push to the women in their lives to scale higher peaks. These are the men who understand the enormous potential women have, if only given a little support and understanding. These are the men who should be celebrated and highlighted as role models for everyone.

I recently read an article where women talked about having to sacrifice their careers and dreams for the sake of their marriage because they had no support from their spouse.

I thought of my husband. How many times has he accompanied me on my trips to vets and animal shelters, calmed me down before a presentation, talked me through my ideas or pushed me to follow my dreams and give my best shot without fearing failure. I thought of all my married male friends. How proud each was of their wives. How each in their own way had gone the extra mile to help their women chase their dreams or just catch up on some much needed rest.

Some rearranged their entire lives and careers, others took on additional household duties or financial responsibilities and yet others sat quietly in the background in instalive, facebooklive, zoom calls as their wives bravely explored uncharted territory in sustainability, healthy lifestyles, adoptions, human rights and more. They are kind, intelligent women, driven by a purpose and a burning desire to make a difference. Without these ever supportive men in their lives, they run the risk of burning themselves out with the enormity of the task they have undertaken. Here is a big thank you to these unsung heroes who have not just fought stereotypes but friends and family as well to let the women shine to their full potential, unhindered.
