Men vs. Women: Who Cares More About Gift Shopping?

Men vs. Women: Who Cares More About Gift Shopping?

As I stroll down Calle Serrano — the fifth avenue of Madrid — I can’t help but notice a striking pattern. Women dominate the bustling shops, arms carrying several shopping bags, while men seem to go in and out of stores, often empty-handed. It makes you wonder: Do women enjoy shopping more? And when it comes to gift-giving, who spends more time choosing that perfect present for their special someone — men or women? ?

The answer might not surprise you. According to a study by Consumer Reports, men spend an average of ten hours shopping for gifts. Ten hours! Women, on the other hand, dedicate twice as much time. Why? It seems women place greater emphasis on finding gifts that truly bring joy to their loved ones. ?

Cue the classic 'gift fail' moment: “A sock puppet? You shouldn’t have, Mike!” It’s a scenario we’ve all seen or experienced, and it underscores the difference in approach. Women tend to focus on the thoughtfulness of the gift, while men often prioritize efficiency. ?

As the holiday season approaches, remember: it’s not about how long you spend shopping — it’s the thought behind the gift that counts.
