men in search of... porkies
[273 words about a crazy little thing called success]
Most people, when asked, will tell you that more than anything they want love.?
But that’s a porkies.
When loved, sooner rather than later, people display that love isn’t enough for them. There is a point at which it starts showing that love isn’t all they need.
What people truly want is success.?
Because with success comes [often, not always] admiration and that’s the kind of love they really seek.?
To admire someone means more than to love them. It means to love and to cherish. That’s all new, much higher kind of affection. That’s fanatical kind of love.?
People want fans.??
That’s why they crave success more than they want love. Success gives prestige, uplifts status, gives power. Success begets envy and envy is fueled by jealousy and jealousy is a twisted form of love. At least some see it that way.
Why - do you think - the fight for “likes” and “followers,” and “engagement”??
Isn’t that the purest form of narcissistic desire to be “loved?”?
And how powerful and addictive that fight is??
They just can’t help themselves. They can’t get enough of it. No matter how many you’d give them. No matter how often.?
And they will still die unsatisfied.?
Which is good to know, for marketers at least. Because this way you mustn’t bother with loving people. It’s not what they’re after anyway. Just help them, even if temporary, even if in a small dose, help them be successful. Whatever that means to them.?
They’ll love you for that and this way you’ll give them precisely what they desire the most.
most people when asked - do not tell the truth!
Not every story is true, but every story contains little truth.
1 年People say they want to be happy because saying "I want to be successful" makes them seem greedy.. There is a stigma around success still.
