Men As Christ / Is the World Ending?

Mark 13:24-32:

Jesus said to his disciples: “In those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. “And then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in the clouds’ with great power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky. “Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. “But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

This question has plagued the human race for generations – and, I suppose that it will continue to plague the generations after us right through the actual end of days.?The irony is that false prophet after false prophet of the end of the world has arisen and fallen time and time again.?They’ve all been wrong, because only the Father knows when the world will end – not even Jesus, the Eternal Bridegroom, knows the hour of the final Wedding Feast with His Bride – the Church.?All of the Apostles were from Galilee and, as Galileans, they understood directly what Jesus was saying here.?In ancient Galilee, only the Father of the Bridegroom knew when the Wedding would take place.?The Bride would wait patiently with Her Ladies in Waiting for the hour when the Bridegroom would be released by His Father to go and retrieve His Bride for the Wedding.?The key here is that the Bride had to be “ready” – She had to “be still”…and “know” that the Father would send for her at the exact right time that only He knew.?Villagers would then run around the town and tell everyone to come to the Wedding Feast, but, they, too, needed to be ready.?Because, once the doors were closed to the Wedding Feast, nobody else was allowed in to what would be days of celebration.?Rather than worrying about an event that not even Jesus knows the timing of, we, like Jesus, should be preparing ourselves for the Wedding Feast.?The world will end one day, but that should never be our focus.?So, let’s focus on Jesus – our Eternal Bridegroom Who We (the Church) will one day Wed in Heaven.?God Promises that the Wedding Feast of the Lamb is open to all and will last Forever, but, once the doors close, there will be those that are left out in the abyss Eternally.
