Matthew 25:14-30:
Jesus told his disciples this parable: “A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one– to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Likewise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master’s money. “After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’ Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.’ His master said to him in reply, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return? Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'”

In the Parable of Five Talents in the Gospel, very few of us think that we are the wicked and lazy servant who buried and hid the talent that God had given them. In contrast, many of us will identify much more-strongly with the good and Faithful servant. But the Truth is that none of us are perfect and all of us, at one time or another, qualify as “wicked and lazy” when it comes to not using the Gifts that God has given to us for His Plan in our lives. How often have we not spoken-up about something that was in conflict with God’s Law and Will? How many of us have failed to live the Beatitudes of Jesus Christ? How many of us have “buried” a Gift that we should be using for Jesus; often to avoid a tough situation? But there is Hope for each and every one of us and His Name is Jesus. He is quick to redeem and forgive when we commit to Him and do our best to sin no more while living-out a Godly-life. All of us need to look in the backyards of our Faith and “dig-up”, “dust-off”, and “enable” our Gifts that we had previously-buried. It’s never too late to do this. The world is a crazy place where satan is allowed to run amok, so there is no lack of Biblical Principles to stand-up for. Remember, Jesus, at one point, walked into the Temple in Jerusalem and whipped people while flipping the tables of those who were buying and selling in His Father’s House. That’s the kind of Godly-Zeal that Jesus is looking for in us. And, standing on the Rock of Christ is the only place we need to be – ever.

4 年Excellent share thank you Gregg, so very true that most of us bury our talents and never use them for God's glory. If we were all to use our God given talents wisely the world would be a truly better place.
