Matthew 24:37-44:
Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be also at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left. Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

It’s the Thanksgiving Holiday this week and the first week of Advent. Many of us will be travelling to see Family and Friends which will require us to pack-up our stuff and make the trek to wherever we’re destined to be. While we can’t predict exactly what the journey will look like, we have a general idea. We probably already know some of the folks along our Holiday journey. We know the roads, airline/train/bus schedules, etc. that will get us there. We know that we should probably pack our toothbrushes and a change of socks. But, the Truth is that we really don’t know everything about our trips. We’ll meet other, “new” folks along on the way at rest stops, hotels, airports, etc. and in a seat near to us. Our trips won’t go 100% as planned and we’ll run into weather conditions, traffic, delayed/early flights, etc. And, we’ll probably forget something that we should have packed. In the Gospels, Jesus was constantly reminding folks that nobody really knows exactly how it all is going to happen except for God. And, God doesn’t call us to know it all. He simply Calls us to do our best to prepare for the journey Home and to pack our bags of life as best as possible for when our “Flight” is called by the Saintly Folks at Eternity Airlines. Sure, we’ll forget something – nobody’s perfect. But, during this Holiday Season, let’s remember to try to pack our bags as best as possible to supply us with the Love that Jesus Calls us to share with our Families and Friends.

If you've never had a relationship with Jesus Christ (or, if you've drifted a bit in your relationship with Him), please consider opening your heart up to Him and accepting Him as your King and Savior. By seeking Him, He will meet you and love you where you are; and, your life will never be the same.
